Brave Para Commando Killed, Three Soldiers Injured in Intense Kishtwar Encounter
Jammu, Nov 10 A para commando was martyred, and three soldiers were injured during an encounter with terrorists in the remote Keshwan forest area of Kishtwar district on Sunday. According to officials, the operation was launched following intelligence inputs indicating terrorist activity in the region.
The encounter began early Sunday morning when joint security forces initiated a search in response to reports of terrorist presence. During the operation, Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar of the 2 Para (Special Forces) tragically lost his life, while three other soldiers were wounded in the ensuing firefight. The injured soldiers were quickly evacuated and airlifted to the Army’s base hospital in Udhampur, where they are receiving advanced medical treatment.
The Army identified the group of terrorists as the same individuals responsible for the recent abduction and killing of two Village Defence Guards (VDG) in Kishtwar, two days prior. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed the joint operation, emphasizing that security forces established contact with the terrorist group, leading to an intense exchange of gunfire.
The incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by security personnel in maintaining peace and security in the region. Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar’s sacrifice underscores the risks taken by the armed forces to protect the country and its citizens, especially in high-conflict zones like Kishtwar.
As the situation unfolds, the Army continues to remain vigilant, determined to bring stability and counter threats in these volatile areas.
