SDM Imposes Mobile Phone Ban in Schools to Ensure Discipline and Student Safety
In a decisive move to maintain school discipline and enhance student safety, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Ramnagar has announced a complete ban on the use of mobile phones in school premises across the Ramnagar subdivision. The decision follows random inspections, during which students and teachers were found using mobile phones during class hours, with some even accessing prohibited websites.
The SDM’s circular highlights concerns from the community regarding the impact of mobile phones on students, citing distractions, increased risk of cyberbullying, and potential disruptions to school discipline. All of these factors, it notes, hinder academic performance. To address these issues, both teachers and students are now prohibited from using mobile phones within school premises, with an exception made for emergencies, where the school’s official phone may be used.
