2 Arrested & Gold Recovered Along With Cash Recovered In Ganderbal Theft Case: Police

A theft case was solved after an arrest of two accused persons who had stolen jewellery and cash from a house in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, said police on Monday.

Police spokesperson said that they received an information through reliable sources, mentioning that some unknown thieves had entered the residential house of Ghulam Mohammaad Sofi son of Noor-Din Sofi, a resident of Patipora Saloora and taken away some jewellery and cash.

In this regard, a case FIR under relevant sections was registered, with further investigation set into motion, he said.

Acting Swiftly on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Sandeep Gupta, a Special Police team was constituted under the supervision of Dy.SP Hqrs Ganderbal Ghulam Hassan led by SHO Police Station Ganderbal Inspector Manzoor Ahmad. After strenuous efforts, the Police Party with the help of technical inputs and CCTV footage apprehended two persons. The accused persons have been identified as Imran Ismail Bhat son of Mohammad Ismail Bhat and Umar Shafi Gilkar, both residents of Tailbal Hazratbal.

Upon their disclosure, the stolen jewellery – one golden ring, a pair of golden ear rings, a golden badge – and cash Rs 13,000. (thirteen thousand only rupees) have been recovered and both the accused have been put behind bars,” police said. “The Amaze Car bearing registration number JK01AT-1953 used in the commission of the crime was also seized,” they added.
