Baramulla Police Solve Blind Hit-and-Run Case: Driver Arrested, Vehicle Seized

November 26, Srinagar – In a swift and commendable effort, Jammu and Kashmir Police have cracked a blind hit-and-run case in Baramulla district, arresting the driver involved and seizing the vehicle used in the fatal incident. The breakthrough highlights the police’s diligence in ensuring justice for the victim and their family.
Incident Details
The tragic incident occurred on November 15, 2024, near Parsa’s Restaurant in Palhallan, Baramulla, when a pedestrian, Nazir Ahmad Sofi, son of the late Abdul Ahad Sofi and a resident of Saderbal Palhallan, was struck by an unidentified vehicle traveling from Baramulla toward Srinagar.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Shahe Jahan addressed the media, stating, “The vehicle hit the pedestrian and fled the scene. Unfortunately, despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Nazir Ahmad Sofi succumbed to his injuries.”
Following the incident, an FIR (No. 314/2024) was promptly registered under Sections 281, 125A, and 106 BNS at Police Station Pattan.
Breakthrough in the Investigation
The police immediately launched an investigation to identify the vehicle and driver involved in the incident. After extensive efforts and evidence collection, the police located the vehicle, a car bearing registration number JK04J 0917, on November 26, 2024, in Budgam district.
The driver was identified as Ahmad Parray, son of Abdul Rashid Parray, a resident of Bun Zanigam in Budgam. He was promptly arrested, and the vehicle was seized as part of the investigation.
