Anantnag, November 23: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Shri V.K. Birdi, reaffirmed the Jammu & Kashmir Police’s dedication to community service, welfare initiatives, and honoring the sacrifices of its martyrs during his visit to Anantnag. The visit, marked by several significant events, showcased the Police administration’s focus on fostering youth engagement and enhancing the well-being of its personnel.

Inauguration of Police Martyrs T-20 Cricket Tournament
IGP Kashmir inaugurated the Police Martyrs T-20 Cricket Tournament at Shaheed Himayun Muzamil Government Degree College ground, Anantnag. The tournament, organized in tribute to the fallen heroes of the J&K Police, aims to foster unity, promote sportsmanship, and provide a constructive platform for the youth. With 32 teams participating from across Anantnag, the event promises ten days of spirited competition, highlighting the region’s sporting talent.

Focus on Welfare Initiatives: Opening of General Mess and Gym
During the visit, IGP Kashmir also inaugurated a state-of-the-art General Mess and Gym Center at the District Police Lines (DPL) Anantnag. These modern facilities are part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare and morale of the Police force, ensuring access to quality meals and fitness resources for its personnel.

Engagement with Officers and Families of Martyrs
The event witnessed participation from prominent dignitaries, including DIG South Kashmir Range Shri Javid Iqbal, SSP Anantnag Dr. G. V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, DC Anantnag Shri Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid, Principal Shaheed Himayun Muzamil Government Degree College Prof. Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat, international cricketer Shri Parvez Rasool, and families of Police martyrs. The presence of families underscored the Police administration’s unwavering respect and support for their sacrifices.

Inspection of Police Stations
IGP Kashmir also conducted inspections of various Police stations in Anantnag to review their functioning, assess performance, and identify areas for improvement. This hands-on approach is aimed at boosting morale and ensuring more effective community service.

Commitment to Youth Engagement and Safety
The visit exemplifies the J&K Police’s dual focus on constructive youth engagement and the welfare of its personnel. Initiatives such as the cricket tournament and modern welfare facilities at DPL reflect a broader vision of fostering harmony, promoting sports, and creating a robust Police-community relationship.
