Police Solve Hit-&-Run Case Leading to Tragic Death Of Local Doctor
Sopore, Nov 21 – In a commendable display of investigative efficiency, Sopore Police have resolved a hit-and-run case that resulted in the tragic death of Dr. Azhar Hassan Janwari, a resident of Upper Ashpeer, Sopore.
The incident occurred on November 5, 2024, when an unidentified motorcyclist struck Dr. Janwari, leaving him critically injured. After initial treatment at SDH Sopore, he was referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced care. Tragically, despite extensive efforts, Dr. Janwari succumbed to his injuries on November 18.
Acting on FIR No. 233/2024, the police launched a thorough investigation, leveraging advanced technical methods. Their diligent efforts led to the identification and arrest of the accused, Nadeem Hameed Badam, also a resident of Upper Ashpeer, Sopore.
During interrogation, Nadeem confessed to riding his scooty (JK05H-4292) recklessly on the day of the incident. Panicked after hitting Dr. Janwari, he fled the scene without informing authorities.
The police have since arrested the accused, seized the vehicle involved, and added Section 106(2) to the case. Further investigations are ongoing.
