PDP Leader Waheed Para Criticizes Omar Abdullah for Inaction on Article 370, Calls for Proactive Measures
Srinagar, Nov 19 : Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Waheed-ur-Rehman Para has strongly criticized the National Conference (NC) leadership, particularly Omar Abdullah, for failing to address key political and constitutional issues in Jammu and Kashmir. Para, speaking after a PDP meeting chaired by Mehbooba Mufti, accused the NC of neglecting critical concerns, including the restoration of Article 370 and the region’s special status under Article 35A.
Highlighting the lack of progress despite the NC’s significant mandate, Para stated, “Empty photo-ops and frequent visits to Delhi will not resolve the real issues faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.” He called for actionable steps rather than rhetorical promises, especially on issues central to the region’s identity and autonomy.
The PDP meeting, which followed the first assembly session in six years, focused on addressing the political uncertainty in Jammu and Kashmir. Concerns about Article 370, demographic changes, and the overall political process were at the forefront of discussions.
Para also accused the NC of failing to engage meaningfully with these issues, urging the party to take a stronger stance in representing the aspirations of the people. “The NC leadership has failed to deliver on its commitments, leaving a void that the PDP is determined to fill with accountability and proactive measures,” he added.
Reiterating the PDP’s focus on constructive politics, Para emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to resolve longstanding issues and ensure justice for the region’s youth. He concluded by urging the NC to deliver on its promises and take responsibility for driving meaningful political progress.
