Recent reports from Srinagar have revealed that a tragic accident resulted from a racing competition involving two Mahindra Thar vehicles. The accident, which occurred near the Tengpora area along the Srinagar expressway bypass on NH-44, claimed the lives of two young individuals and left one critically injured.

Details of the Incident

CCTV footage of the accident shows a Thar Jeep colliding head-on with a stationary tipper truck. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn multiple times before striking the road divider. The deceased were identified as Hammad from Lal Bazar and Azeem from Sanat Nagar, while Mohammad Eissa Ganie from Nowshera sustained critical injuries and remains hospitalized.

History of the Second Jeep

The second Thar Jeep, which avoided the accident, has been found to have a history of reckless behavior. It has four traffic challans registered against it, and the owner had previously been summoned twice for counseling regarding traffic violations.

This unfortunate event has reignited concerns about underage and reckless driving in the region. Authorities are urging parents to monitor their children’s access to vehicles and are calling for stricter enforcement of traffic laws to prevent such accidents in the future.
