NIA Attaches Residential House in Srinagar Linked to Killing of Non-Locals
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken decisive action by attaching a residential house in Srinagar in connection with the killing of two non-local laborers. The property is located in Khan Colony, Chanapora, and belongs to Mushtaq Ahmad, identified as a key conspirator in the case.
Background of the Case
In May 2022, the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two hybrid militants linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF) in Chanapora. During the operation, a significant arms cache was seized, including:
15 pistols,
30 magazines,
300 rounds of ammunition,
A silencer.
The investigation revealed that these weapons were intended for targeted killings, specifically aimed at non-local laborers, to instill fear in the region.
NIA’s Intervention
The NIA took over the case in June 2022 and discovered that Mushtaq Ahmad was a key player in:
Receiving weapons from Pakistan-based handlers.
Distributing them to active cadres of TRF and LeT.
The attachment of the house was carried out under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), marking an important step in disrupting the terror network’s support infrastructure.
Significance of the Action
This move demonstrates the NIA’s commitment to:
- Dismantling terror networks and their financial/logistical systems.
- Ensuring safety and security for non-local residents and workers in Jammu and Kashmir.
The agency’s efforts continue to focus on rooting out terrorism and protecting all individuals residing in the region.
