Srinagar Sunday Market Blast Case Cracked: Three Local Militant Associates Arrested, Booked Under UAPA
IGP Kashmir, V.K. Birdi, Announces Swift Action to Restore Peace in Srinagar
Srinagar, November 8: Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, confirmed that the recent grenade blast case at Srinagar’s Sunday Market has been resolved, with the arrest of three militant associates. The blast, which occurred last Sunday around 2:15 p.m., injured 12 people, two of whom were critically wounded.
In a press conference, IGP Birdi detailed how Srinagar police quickly gathered evidence, leading to the arrest of Usma Yaseen Sheikh, Umar Fayaz Sheikh, and Afnan Manzoor Sheikh—all residents of Ihkrajpura, Srinagar. The suspects allegedly acted on instructions from handlers in Pakistan, intending to disrupt peace and business in the area.
The three arrested individuals have been charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), with the case registered at Kothibagh police station.
