Top LeT Commander Usman Bhai Killed in Srinagar Encounter; 4 Security Personnel Injured
In a major anti-terror operation on November 2, 2024, security forces in Srinagar’s Khanyar area neutralized Usman Bhai, a prominent commander of the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Kashmir Inspector General of Police, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, confirmed Usman’s role in numerous militant activities, including the murder of Inspector Masroor.
The encounter resulted in injuries to two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and two policemen, all of whom were evacuated to the Army’s 92 Base Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.
The operation began after intelligence reports indicated the presence of militants in Khanyar. Security forces moved in to investigate but were met with gunfire, leading to a prolonged exchange. During the operation, the targeted house caught fire, sending smoke billowing into the area.
This development highlights the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in Kashmir, with the elimination of a high-ranking LeT commander marking a significant achievement for security forces in the region.
