In a significant shift, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced a return to the November-December exam calendar for students up to 9th grade in Jammu and Kashmir, addressing the unique challenges posed by the region’s harsh winter climate. While exams for 10th and 12th grades will be held in March-April this year, plans are underway to implement the November-December schedule for these grades from next year.
The change responds to student and parent concerns, who argued that the winter break up to February provides students valuable preparation time, preventing academic loss and easing weather-related hardships during exams.
