Restoration of Statehood a Policy Matter, Not Political: BJP Chief Ravinder Raina
Jammu — Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina emphasized that the restoration of statehood to the Union Territory should be viewed as a “policy matter” rather than a political issue. Speaking to reporters during an event in Udhampur to commemorate Accession Day, Raina highlighted Jammu and Kashmir’s difficult history, particularly the 35 years impacted by Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
Raina praised the peace and stability achieved in the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, crediting the collaborative efforts of citizens and security personnel. He cautioned against hasty decisions on statehood restoration, urging a careful and cooperative approach between the Union Territory and central governments to address sensitive issues without political exploitation.
In conjunction with the BJP’s tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh, the Yuva Rajput Sabha and other groups also celebrated Accession Day, honoring the historical significance of Maharaja Hari Singh’s leadership and the sacrifice of Dogra warriors in securing the region’s unity.
