Major Boost to Solar Energy in Kashmir:Rs. 49 Lakh Subsidy Credited to 57 Rooftop Solar Beneficiaries, 71 More Awaiting Approval
In a significant advancement for rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana in Kashmir, the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MN&RE) has credited a central subsidy of Rs. 48.73 lakh to 57 domestic consumers. This subsidy was processed within a week of plant commissioning by the KPDCL technical teams. An additional 71 beneficiaries are set to receive their subsidies soon.
A KPDCL spokesperson confirmed that these beneficiaries are also eligible for an additional Rs. 9,000 subsidy from the Union Territory, specifically for plants up to 3 kWp, which will be released shortly. Highlighting the benefits of the scheme, which offers up to 60% subsidy, the spokesperson urged consumers to take advantage of the program, noting that installed capacity is expected to reach 3.5 MW within two months, significantly easing demand on the grid.
