Baramulla, October 21: A significant anti-terror operation is underway in the Uri sector of Baramulla district, where security forces have successfully neutralized one infiltrator and are actively searching for others. The operation commenced following intelligence reports indicating the presence of 2-3 armed individuals attempting to cross the Line of Control (LoC).

SSP Baramulla, Mohammad Zaid Malik, confirmed the recovery of one body while addressing the media. “We have recovered the body of one infiltrator, and the search for the others is still ongoing. A substantial cache of arms and ammunition has been seized from the site. While we cannot disclose further operational details at this stage, our forces remain vigilant.”

Initial intelligence suggested the presence of 2-3 infiltrators in the area. SSP Malik further mentioned, “There is a possibility that another infiltrator has been injured or killed. If he has not retreated back across the border, we are confident that he is still in the vicinity, and efforts are underway to locate him.”

The Indian Army, which is part of the joint operation, had earlier reported the recovery of a heavily armed terrorist, along with an AK rifle, two magazines, 57 rounds of AK ammunition, two pistols, and additional war-like materials. The operation remains active, and heightened security measures are in place across the LoC to prevent further infiltration attempts.

Further updates will follow as the situation develops.
