DGP RR Swain Reflects on 30 Years of Service: ‘Aiming for Peace, Free from Fear’ as He Bids Farewell”
Pays Tributes to Fallen Heroes at Balidan Stambh, Lal Chowk
Srinagar, Sep 30 (QNS): On his final day in office, Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain visited the Balidan Stambh at Pratap Park, Lal Chowk, to honor the brave heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Reflecting on his 30 years of service, Swain emphasized his commitment to fostering an environment in Jammu and Kashmir free from fear and intimidation, expressing pride in his efforts to bring peace to the region.
“For a police officer, Balidan Stambh holds a sacred significance. It stands as a testament to the sacrifices of hundreds of brave souls, and it is my duty to pay homage to them on this momentous day,” Swain told reporters at the memorial, according to Quick News Service (QNS).
When asked about the challenges he faced throughout his career, rising from SSP to DGP, Swain expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of J&K. “This is a rare honor, and I am deeply thankful to the Almighty, the government, and my colleagues for their support throughout this journey.”
Swain highlighted his efforts to bring lasting peace and restore dignity in J&K, saying, “I have poured my heart, soul, and mind into ensuring peace. My aim was to see the smiles return to the faces of the people and remove the shadows of fear. I am grateful to all the mothers, sisters, children, and elders who supported this mission.”
As Swain steps down, Nalin Prabhat will take charge as the new police chief of the Union Territory.
