Jammu, Oct 27 – In light of recent terror attacks that claimed 12 lives, including two soldiers, the Jammu and Kashmir Congress has urged the central government to collaborate closely with the newly elected National Conference government to effectively combat terrorism in the Union Territory.

The Congress has also criticized the BJP-led central government for delaying the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, threatening to initiate an agitation if this demand is not addressed promptly. The party emphasized that restoring statehood would be a fitting tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh, the last Dogra ruler who played a crucial role in the accession of J-K to India on October 26, 1947.

Party leaders, including Raman Bhalla and JKPCC Vice President Ravinder Sharma, emphasized the need for a holistic approach to counter terrorism, suggesting that collaboration with local governance is essential. Additionally, Sharma highlighted a need for an improved counter-insurgency strategy, pointing out the recent trend of selective targeted attacks by terrorists.

The Congress is also reflecting on its recent electoral losses, with leaders attributing some issues to alleged distribution of resources by rival parties during elections. Meanwhile, JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra visited the family of Shashi Abrol, a victim of a recent terror attack in Ganderbal, to extend condolences on behalf of the party.
