Srinagar, Oct 7 (QNS) – Awami Ittehad Party President and Member of Parliament Sheikh Abdul Rashid, popularly known as Engineer Rashid, has made a strong call for political unity in Jammu and Kashmir, urging parties not to form a government until statehood is fully restored. Rashid argued that any government formed under Union Territory status would be weak and lack sufficient power.

In a scathing criticism of regional political factions, Rashid accused them of complacency over the past five years. He called on the India Block, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), his own Awami Ittehad Party, and others to stand together and refuse to govern until Jammu and Kashmir regains its statehood.

Rashid emphasized that even if a single party or coalition wins the upcoming elections, it is the duty of all political groups to push the central government for the restoration of statehood. He affirmed his party’s willingness to collaborate with other political organizations on this crucial matter.

He warned that without statehood, the people of Jammu and Kashmir would remain deprived of their rights and true governance. Rashid’s remarks come as assembly elections loom, with the restoration of statehood emerging as a central issue in the political landscape.

Concluding his statement, Rashid stressed that only a fully empowered government under restored statehood can deliver real progress and protect the rights of the people. He urged all political entities to unite for the greater public good. (QNS)
